Committed to sharing Jesus
St John's Lutheran Church, Wodonga, has a long and enduring history in the life of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Founded in 1874, it is a place of worship that continues to this day to proclaim God's grace in Word and Sacrament ministry to the people of God and in the wider community. As God's people gathered together by the Holy Spirit, we are "Committed to Sharing Jesus" wherever God has placed us in our lives. This commitment is compelled by God's great love for humanity and for each one of us individually. God showed his great love for us by sending his Son, Jesus, into the world. Through his life, suffering, death and resurrection, Jesus has won new life for all people, and this life of love we are called to share with others. "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). "This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" (1 John 4:10-11).
It is our fervent prayer that you will discover here, in our community of faith, God's love, and that as he comes to serve you in his house, that you will grow in that love, and be compelled to share it with others.
Here at St John's we currently worship on Sunday mornings at 09.30 am. Holy Communion is currently celebrated at every service. We enjoy a variety of music styles, including both contemporary music and the traditional hymnody of the church. Our communicant membership is around 60 people.
In the Wodonga Lutheran Parish, there are always lots of opportunities for you to serve our Lord by using your God given gifts and talents in the life of the church, and to be involved in the various activities that take place.
